This module intends to inform the students to develop awareness of a wider place, a genius loci and the design response towards the place. Also, to emphasize the importance of site and program in architectural design and to introduce different spatial typologies in architectural design. Other than that, it is also to emphasize the importance of section in the design of architectural design. In design studio 3 includes of 3 assignment, which the first is Journey of 5 senses, next, Parit Jawa site analysis and last design of History Intepretive Centre.

Spatial Translations : Journey of the five senses
In groups of 5 students, our group have been given a set of literature,film and sculpture, then produce two spatial translations scheme themed 'Journey of the five senses' in the form of linear and concentric. With an analysis of two precedent study relating to spatial typologies and poetics in architecture, we have to identify and explain different spatial types in architecture and how they inform spatial use and experience.After that, we have to create tectonic expressions of different spatial typologies which impact on the uses and experiential conditions of space and study and express the sectional drawing in relation to use and poetics of space.

The precedent studies we chose are Grace Farms and Makomanai Takino Cemetry. By analysing it, we are able to understand more about the linear and concentric and have a strong concept on the form and spatial.

Genius Loci : Site Analysis
In the same group of Project 1, we have to conduct a historical research on the place. The data is including mapping a site over a series of significant stages,in the course of its history provides a description of the life and memory of a place. We also have to interview the locals on site in obtaining information, in particular significant events, people and developments in the past. We went to Parit Jawa for site analysis. During the assignment, we had undergo a few workshop to have a better development on our progess of assignment.

Genius Loci : History Intepretive Centre
Individually, I have to generate design through conscious consideration of section-plan relationship with consideration of anthropometry, fenestration, materiality, buildability and textures based on the site analysis of Parit Jawa. I have to design a history intepretive centre with experiential spaces.The design should also relate to the Project 1 which is Journey of the five sense. Stories is important to be translated in the building to create a poetic space. The story of my design surrounded by the history of two races which is the main two races that lives at Parit Jawa- Malay and Chinese. Its about their fighting and their conscious and the reason between.
